Bubble Wrap Guide For FBA

When prepping products for Retail Arbitrage, Amazon can request extra packaging on products. Specifically, they want products bubble wrapped. This post examines what products require bubble wrap. Additionally, we examine which bubble packaging to use. Lastly, we review how to package RA products for FBA.

What Amazon Products Need Bubble Wrap Packaging

First, Amazon requires wrap for sharp products. For example, items with a pointed edge require secure packaging. This protects Amazon workers, other products, delivery drivers, and the customers when handling unit.

Second, Amazon requires bubble cushions for fragile or glass products. For example, fine china, frames, clocks, mirrors, liquids in glass bottles, or jars require this packaging. This prevents a customer from receiving a damaged product. Damage products get returned. Returns can lead to an account suspension.

Which Bubble Wrap is Best?

Basic bubble wrap comes in three different sizes. In fact, different sizes protect different products. Think to yourself – what product am I shipping? Perhaps it is a complex power tool. Or maybe it is a simple gardening tool with a pointed tip. Let’s look at different cushion sizes options for each item.

3/16″ Bubble Cushion

This is the smallest and most popular size for cushions. This bubble cushion is designed for basic protection for finished surfaces. In other words, this will protect against scratches, dents, and chips. The 3/16″ bubble cushion is mobile and light weight. Smaller objects require this bubble cushion size. Ultimately, this will apply to most Retail Arbitrage items.

5/16″ Bubble Cushion

This is the standard bubble cushion size for large and heavy items. In addition to surface protection, this also provides shock absorption. If you are shipping bulky items – use this bubble wrap. It also serves to fill voids in packaging. Again, this reduces shock absorption. Products like mirrors or TV’s need extra care. Buy a bigger bubble to protect your products!

1/2” Bubble Cushion

Lastly, this size of cushion is reserved for filling voids. For example, if there is space in packaging – just stuff this inside. In fact, you do not even need to wrap it around the product. This is purely a shock absorber mechanism. You can think of these bubbles as a close cousin to air pockets.

How to Pack for FBA with Bubble Wrap

Bubble wrap works best in sleeve format. This securely protects the product on all sides. Also, it is easy to package. Amazon will often accept products which are entirely sealed with wrap – even without a box. Importantly, seal the wrap completely! For example, if the wrap comes loose, it will snag. Amazon will not accept this. For good measure, we recommend to box the product after wrap.

How to Buy Bubble Wrap?

FbaZoom recommends shopping at U-Line for bubble wrap.
